A’s Ballpark Las Vegas 2026 Update: Construction Status, the Strip and What It Means for Home Values

October 15, 2026

Short answer: The Athletics’ Las Vegas ballpark is on schedule to open for the 2028 MLB season. The 33,000-seat stadium is rising on 9 acres at the former Tropicana site, at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, at a cost of about $2 billion. Team and stadium officials said in 2026 that the project is on time and on budget. For homeowners, the bigger story is the wave of projects along the Strip, from Hard Rock to a possible NBA team, that add jobs and long-term demand even as tourism has softened this year.

Where Does A’s Stadium Construction Stand?

Ground broke in June 2025, and foundation work was finished by early 2026. By May 2026, about $400 million had been spent, the first two concrete levels were complete and roof shoring towers were up, according to Ballpark Digest. In June, crews set the first of five roof truss arches and completed the main concourse loop. Owner John Fisher said the workforce would grow to about 1,500, and naming rights talks were underway. The stadium was designed by Bjarke Ingels Group with HNTB, and it is being built by a Mortenson McCarthy joint venture.

The open question is the land around the stadium. Bally’s, which controls the rest of the Tropicana site, has struggled to finance its planned resort. In August 2026, a Bally’s executive told the Stadium Authority it was close to securing financing and that the ballpark remains on track. A temporary plaza could be used at opening if that work lags.

How Is the A’s Stadium Being Paid For?

Most of the money is private. Fisher has committed at least $1.1 billion, plus about $300 million in bank loans and minority investors. The team plans to use up to $350 million of the $380 million in public support approved by the Nevada Legislature in 2023, mostly through bonds, tax proceeds and transferable tax credits. The team has said it is responsible for any cost overruns, and as of August 2026 none of the public money had been drawn.

Did the A’s Play in Las Vegas in 2026?

Yes. The A’s play their home games at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento through 2027, but they played six regular-season games at Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin in June 2026, against the Brewers and the Rockies. Those were the first regular-season MLB games in Las Vegas since 1996. If you live on the west side, that ballpark is also home to the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators.

There is a softer side too. Las Vegas had about 3.03 million visitors in August 2026, down 4.3% from a year earlier, and hotel occupancy and room rates were both lower, according to the LVCVA. Convention attendance was a bright spot, up 6%. Tourism drives a large share of local jobs, so it is worth watching alongside the housing numbers in my October market update.

Will the A’s Stadium Raise Home Values in Las Vegas?

Probably not much, outside the immediate area. There is no independent 2026 study showing the stadium moving home prices yet. Research on sports stadiums generally finds that land value gains stay close to the venue, and a UNLV economist told KTNV that he expects any effect in Las Vegas to be concentrated near the stadium, with more commercial activity and an uncertain long-term impact on homes. In my experience, buyers choose neighborhoods for schools, commute, price and lifestyle, not for a ballpark.

Where these projects do matter is jobs and long-term confidence. Thousands of construction jobs now, and permanent jobs at the ballpark, Hard Rock and the convention center later, support housing demand across the valley. For investors, condos and townhomes near the south Strip and the 215 corridor are worth watching as the 2027 and 2028 openings get closer.
