Short answer: Skye Canyon, the master-planned community at US-95 and Skye Canyon Park Drive in northwest Las Vegas (ZIP 89166), is filling in the pieces families have been waiting for. A new CCSD elementary school broke ground in June 2026 and is set to open in fall 2027. A Metro police substation and a 2-acre city park with a skate park are due in early 2027. New homes from LGI Homes start in the $380,000s, and a separate master plan called Skye Summit is getting started a few miles south, near the 215 and Tropical Parkway.

Is a New School Coming to Skye Canyon?
Yes. The Clark County School District broke ground on Skye Canyon Elementary on June 22, 2026, near Hualapai Way and Grand Teton Drive. It is designed for about 850 students and is scheduled to open in fall 2027. For families in Skye Canyon and the surrounding northwest neighborhoods, a closer school has been one of the biggest open questions, and it is a meaningful selling point for homes nearby. Zoning for the new school will be set by CCSD, so confirm the attendance boundaries before you buy.
What Is Being Built at Hualapai and Grand Teton?
Besides the school, the City of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are building a $27.2 million Skye Canyon substation at Hualapai and Grand Teton. The project includes a 13,300-square-foot police station and a 2-acre public park with a skate park. It broke ground in October 2025 and is expected to open in early 2027. A police presence and a new park next to a new school make that corner one of the most important in the northwest valley.
Who Is Building New Homes in Skye Canyon?
Century Communities and Toll Brothers are selling in Skye Canyon, and LGI Homes opened Topaz at Skye Canyon in April 2026 with 49 homesites. Topaz homes run about 1,256 to 1,665 square feet and start in the $380,000s, one of the lower entry prices for new construction in a Las Vegas master plan. The community is planned for about 6,500 homes on roughly 1,000 acres, so there is still building ahead.
What Is Skye Summit?
Skye Summit is a separate, newer master plan from the Olympia Companies near the 215 and Tropical Parkway, not part of Skye Canyon. It covers about 505 acres and is approved for about 3,500 homes. KB Home was the first builder, paying about $46.4 million for 38.6 acres and 299 lots. Site work was set to begin in summer 2026, with home sales expected in early 2027. Century Communities and D.R. Horton have also bought land there, and a 20-acre La Madre Foothills Park is planned.

For buyers: You can still buy new in Skye Canyon at prices below many Summerlin and Henderson options, and builders across the valley are offering financing incentives while rates sit above 7%. Buying close to the new school and park site may pay off when they open in 2027.
